Sandy Creek Acres is the original neighborhood in the town of Sandy Creek. Sandy Creek was established in 1988 and is 1.3 square acres in size. While from the census in 2000 there were 91 homes…there are about 175 homes now. With recent developments (no pun intended) there are approximately another 1250 homes being built so the town is about to inrease by 8x. One neighborhood is to be found on the east side of Sandy Creek Drive is Lake Park with approximately 313 homes.  That might change due to wetlands in the area…. The other subdivision will be off of 87 and may in fact start breaking ground sooner. How will these additional neighborhoods and their tax revenue affect the quiet Sandy Creek Acres neighborhood?

“The Town of Sandy Creek is a small quiet community located approximately 12.5 miles west of Wilmington, NC. The Town was incorporated in 1988 with the diligence of Ernest E “Buddy” Grainger, A man who envisioned a town with easier access. Consequently, he became the first Mayor of Sandy Creek in September 1988, serving until December 1995. As of the 2009 census the population of Sandy Creek was 318 people, with a growth rate of 29.3% since 2000. Sandy Creek continues to grow without losing it’s small hometown feeling. ”
